出張でホテルを選ぶ際、立地と交通の便は最優先事項です。今回は北京へ飛び、首都国際空港に午後9時30分に到着したので、「ターミナルのすぐそば」にあるホテルが必要でした。Capital Airport International Hotel Beijingはまさにその名の通り、第3ターミナルのすぐ隣に位置し、徒歩15分。早朝便を利用する人にはまさにうってつけのホテルです。
まずは交通の便について。第3ターミナルを出て、地下通路の標識に従って進みました。道路を渡ったり、信号を待ったりする必要はなく、まっすぐ進むとホテルの看板が見えました。荷物を持って15分歩くのは楽で、タクシーに乗るよりもずっとストレスが少なかったです。ホテルは午前5時から午後11時まで30分間隔で無料シャトルバスを運行しています。運転手は時間通りに出発し、ロビー入口から第3ターミナルの出発階まで5分で直接送ってくれました。翌日のフライトは午前6時だったので、午前5時のシャトルバスを利用しました。チェックインと保安検査はスムーズで、慌てる様子は全くありませんでした。帰りも同様で、着陸後ホテルまで歩いて戻る方がタクシーを待つよりもずっと早かったです。
周辺環境は予想以上に良かったです。ホテルは空港に隣接しているものの、孤立しているわけではなく、裏手には空港の住宅街があり、コンビニやファストフード店がいくつか並んでいます。徒歩5分圏内で水や軽食を買うことができます。斜め向かいには小さな公園があり、3日目の夕方に散歩に行きました。木々はあまり多くありませんでしたが、静かで、滑走路を離着陸する飛行機の轟音がBGMとなり、不思議とリラックスした雰囲気でした。少し離れた順義市の中心部まで車で20分ほど行くと、ショッピングモールやレストランがありますが、正直なところ、ビジネス旅行者には買い物をする時間はありません。ただ、そこにあると知っているだけで十分です。
欠点について正直に言うと、ホテルの近くに地下鉄の駅がありません。最寄りの空港は第3ターミナルにあるエアポートエクスプレスですが、まずターミナルまで行き、そこから駅に入る必要があります。市内中心部まではタクシーで約40分、渋滞時はさらに時間がかかります。朝陽区や海淀区へ出張する場合は、移動時間がかなり長くなります。しかし、空港への往復のみの旅程であれば、交通の便はほぼ完璧と言えるでしょう。
もう一つ特筆すべき点は駐車場です。車でお越しの場合、ホテルには無料駐車場があり、駐車スペースも十分です。同僚が迎えに来てくれたのですが、駐車場で10分ほど待っただけでした。空港送迎が必要なビジネス旅行者にとって、これは大きなメリットです。
